Theories on Murphy's Career???

There has got to be something I am not seeing. When you see Murphy in interviews you can see he clearly still has talent and can still do what he used to, he just chooses not to. I am also impressed at how well he takes care of himself: aging well, exercising not on drugs - no issue there.

GRANTED: what most people seem to miss is that he is definitely making a lot more money now than ever before in his career, and quite frankly is working less to do it.

Is it just the case that he is looking at this as a business proposition, maximize pay, minimize work and to hell with reputation and legacy? If this is so, maybe he thinks it is more profitable to maintain a PG-13 persona.

OR: and this is scary, does he deeply really like the movies he does now more? (Having kids can change a person)

In a way I think it is courageous to say critics be damned, I'm going to do what I want and make this money. But I'm not sure I buy this theory.

Well this film was completed way back in 2008 when Murphy was still in "family" mode, but he said that he's now going to be starring in more mature films.
