What REALLY hurt this film

Even though it actually had a few good jokes (The sweating scene and the doll phone call scene were actually funny), this film still goes wrong. This is because it takes itself WAY to seriously. I mean come on; a dead father, a mother with Alzheimers, chasing a child through golden wheat, the tree sprouting flowers at the end? It's like the film forgot it was supposed to be a comedy and decided to be a preachy melodrama. And the drama sucks too; it's so manipulative and preachy that it's ridiculous. On top of that, some of the other jokes like the scene where Murphy acts high and the scene where Murphy gets hit by a daycare ride were SO predictable.

I agree. But I will say that Eddie did have a few pretty funny moments scattered throughout the film. All this guy needs is a comedy with an actual good script and director and he might be able to come back.

It's not just a comedy. How simpleminded does one have to be to sit down to a film and think, "Comedy, this can ONLY be a comedy" and then assume that it's a flaw when it isn't only a comedy?
