For me, she COULDN'T be that distant and so selfish she wouldn't understand that something was wrong.Even the nerd sat and was patient enough to realize the situation.A woman with whom Eddie had been married for quite some time and had a child with would be more close to him and trying to understand what was wrong.It was as if she didn't "listen" to him-or pay any attention to what he was trying to make her understand and only HER thoughts matter...
She killed the movie thereafter for me...i know it is not the actress's fault-who made her like this????Direction or script?

The character was supposed to be on the edge of walking out at the start of the film. The implication is that she was basically done putting up with neglect, nonsense, etc. The way Murphy's character initially handles the events we see in the film are the final straw.

It's not like he was a great husband prior to the start of the film, and this was the only thing going wrong.

Yeah I know. Sometimes the lady of the house in the midst of conflict comes off as a b***h due to the main focus being on the man. Also, if he could get away with animal noises, why couldn't he just use those when they were attempting sex?

Exactly! The choices he made didn't make a shred of sense. He could use sentences with the people he worked with, but not with the woman he spent the last five years of his life with? He even refuses to utter a simple "Yes" or "no" That could have been handled differently and still have been funny.

Personally I think the fact that the conflict of him possibly dying kind of killed the humor of the movie since its kind of hard to find something like that funny.

The wife was harsh.. and the film lacked a required element of good-natured fun - don't know how you could get it with this plot, but it was needed nonetheless.

Yes I hated her. I felt she needed to learn more of a lesson in listening than Eddie Murphy's character did. I also found the mother 1 dimensional as a character so I felt nothing for those characters.
Otherwise it could have been a moving film.

I didn't mind her at first but the moment she kicked him out of the hotel room in his boxers is when I hated her, he may not have been a perfect husband but it's not like she was the perfect wife, she didn't need to be an unsympathetic bitch, she could've at least gave him his clothe instead of allowing him to walk around half naked, humiliating himself.

It seemed to me his wife just wanted her husband to be part of the family instead of acting like they are just accessories to his life. It was explained with him not wanting to get a house that would be better for a family instead of his great bachelor pad. At the point of him not being able to talk it was the final straw. He could have even used up his words to try to convince her but he was wanting to keep control of everything.
