Adam Sandler and Kevin James not kissing

Did anyone else think that Sandler and James not kissing only reinforced the perceived 'ickiness' of gay love? Two opportunities arose: one ended in a homophobic punch, and the other was in slow-motion with the two men being 'saved' at the last second from having to go through with it.

If you're going to do a movie and play gay, then you should at least be willing to kiss another man. Otherwise, how effective is the message of the movie? Is it not just sending the message that there's something wrong with homosexuality, and that the act of kissing another man is so disgusting that these two actors were unwilling to do it? It was one of the things that disappointed me about this movie.

I thought that part at the end was strange too. Kissing another man for two seconds to save yourself from prison. Not a tough decision.

reply

well the characters were NOT gay,
so they found it a little disturbing to do.

Imagine yourself kissing someone of a sex that
just simply isnt what youre into,
wether it be male or female.

im sure if the writers of the movie would have made
it that they did kiss, then the actors would do it.
no problem.

the characters WERE going to,
but they were interrupted, thats all.

thank you silverblaize i read what the OP said and was going to say the same thing you did.

Kevin kissed Will Smith in HITCH.

I guess it is true, once you go black, you never go back!
;p

(also, there is a deleted scene where Danny purposely waited to come in and KJ and AS actually DID kiss.)

Yes, Brainlock is right. The original ending of the film was that they did kiss and then danny came in but do to that ending, the MPAA bumped the film up to an R rating and they wanted a PG-13. So OP, you need to calm down and relax because the actors were willing to kiss and acctualy did. I personaly think I like the ending where the dont kiss (im not a homophobe but just think it makes more sense)

reply

Where is that from? I saw that in the FAQs as well, but is there any proof to back that up? As far as I knew, the movie wasn't reedited to get a PG-13.

reply

kevin kissed will smith in "hitch"? I didn't see the movie.
humm.I'm surpised because will smith wouldn't kiss anthony michael hall in "6 degrees of seperation" I think the movie is. wow!

I like your show,I admire your style, but your pays so cheap, I won't be back for a while.

A PG-13 rating these days is important to filmmakers doing comedies. Notice in the gay wedding at the end, there IS a kiss but we don't see it. I totally believe that they had to cut the gay kiss to a PG-13. The MPAA has been getting very strict over the past decade. There's an interesting documentary about it called This Movie Is Not Rated - watch it and you'll see there is an anti-gay agenda at the MPAA.

reply

If this is true it's the only anti-gay agenda in any aspect of the movie industry. I'm just sayin'.

reply

Wow, do you think there was no gay kiss for a ratings motive? Hollywood is incredible. As the OP aptly noted, it really demands belief suspension to think that two hetero guys would prefer prison over a mere smack on the lips, hence it hurt the plot's credibility.

And it doesn't help either in delivering a message of tolerance towards the gay community.

icky is the gayest word one can use.

People arent opposed to lesbian kissing, they generally encourage it, but if its two men the media and church condemns it. When two men kiss people perceive it as shoving gayness down their throat, but when its two girls people think its okay and want to see more of it. Its a hypocritical double standard that will never change.

reply

your a moron, a church would get just as upset over 2 women as over 2 men. Your just trying to bash heterosexual men because of their sexual interests. That's something a bigot would do.

I don't know about that. Never is a long time. I bet a couple decades ago there were those who said it'd never be normal to have an interracial kiss without controversy, and these days we hardly bat an eye over it.

Anyways, I'm just going to say it's completely stupid that a gay kiss warrants an R rating. I mean, it's just a kiss.

I think Yuri just wanted to see some gay lovin.

Throughout the whole movie, I figured they would throw in at least one kiss scene with them.. Thankfully they didn't. Or thankfully it was cut out.
