does anyone know the name of the ballad (song) playing during the custome party? thanks!!

Which one? It started off with Always On My Mind by the Pet Shop Boys, then some other 80s pop, I really liked the music! :-)

The song the brother dances to is "Groove Is In The Heart" by 90's group Deee-lite.
Irony of that scene, the brother is dressed as a butterfly which is one of the Deee-lite symbols.

The ballad is named Open Arms and it is by Journey.
