Surprisingly even handed

I was expecting this to be yet another anti-CIA, anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-(fill in the blank Hollywood target). There was a hint of it sprinkled throughout but it didn't hit you over the head with it every 20 seconds. The guys blowing up bombs were the bad guys the guys trying to stop them were the good guys (more or less).

Now is that so hard to do Hollywood?

I get where you're going with this, but it's not that black and white. The movie starts out with the words:

I and the public know
What all schoolchildren learn,
Those whom evil is done
Do evil in return.

W.H. Auden

This pretty much says it all. It's the never ending story. For example: U.S. invades Iraq, civilians get killed, so some of the survivors seek revenge. Soldiers get killed. Their colleagues and 'the folks back home' demand retribution. So on and so forth.

I'm not trying to say the U.S. was first by invading Iraq. It's just one spot in the whole ugly mess I chose.

As Ed Hoffman keeps saying throughout this movie:

Nobody's innocent in this *beep*

Well, we kinda were. There was no threat to us from Iraq. There was no al-Qaeda there, Saddam had become weak and had no WMDs or anything. (and even if he did have WMDs, that didn't mean he was gonna use them against us)

Bush invaded Iraq to show them who was boss. It was a naked act of imperialism.
