Can Somebody explain to me why...?
did DiCaprio had to get captured? Why was his capture necessary to capture the terrorist. Wasn't it pointless? They already had and inside man in there, what was DiCaprio's role. I don't get it.

shareThey guaranteed that Al Salim would be there to confront an American CIA agent.

OK, so basically that Guaranteed that the terrorist would be there.
I guess that makes sense.
a pretty stupid terrorist too to go there in the first place. 1 chance out of 4 that Crowe picks the right vehicle to track and they're all exposed. 25% probability is pretty big if the consequence is ruining you whole life's purpose which is so important to those f'ckers.
shareAnd the fact that the "stir up some dust to obscure the surveillance and use a few decoy vehicles" trick would certainly have been anticipated and easily countered by Crowe and his people (the CIA certainly has multiple methods of survellance and tracking). Hell, the US Marshal's Service pretty much invented the tactic of using multiple decoy vehicles on a protection detail. Anyone who has ever worked in the private security business is also quite familiar with it. I laughed out loud when that "trick" supposedly worked.
shareYeah, I kept saying; "switch to thermal imaging" and...they didn't.
shareAll this would have worked if they had enough time to set up everything.
Leo was dropped at a place which was unknown to them

While it didn't occur to me that they could use thermal imaging, I was surprised that they couldn't monitor 4 cars simultaneously. With all that state-of-the-art set up, I thought it would be a cake walk for them.
shareThey could have put a tracker on him/in him.... But this movie is obsessed about satellite imaging.

I have yet to see a movie where real tactics are used. You know why because they wouldn't be very useful if they were in a movie. The trick was good enough to fool us and it really stood in the place for whatever they use to beat us. Even though we have all of this technology they still find ways to trick us, which is the truth. The trick is a stand in for whatever that may be. It was also another stab at the U.S. and to show how stupid we are. Another tissue is the money spent. Each operation is only so big, with restricted resources and given the situation they were done. It still does not matter because all that mattered was that Leo was *beep* out of luck this time. The main point is that movies are about 10 years behind when it comes to intelligence and criminal activity. Sometimes its more like 20 years. Anyways, I enjoyed the scene.
