Two part question....Do you think Hani knew what Ferris was doing???

1. Do you think Hani knew what Ferris was doing when he handed him the pictures of Sidiki in Dubai? I get the feeling he did from the way he looked at Ferris when Ferris attempted to give the pictures back.

2. Why did Hani have the the guy(the one who made contact with the Jihadist that Ferris killed) who was supposed to be working for Hoffman whipped?

I think he knew and was giving Ferris a chance to fess up. The whipping was punishment for working for the CIA without Hani's knowledge or approval. The CIA (Hoffman) was trying to do a short cut, hurry up to find out if the house was a terrorist cell, instead of waiting and doing it in a way that wouldn't tip their hand. In spite of the fact that Ferris killed the contact, the cell was spooked enough to pack up and burn the house, probably to destroy evidence. That meant the tip they got about it that cost the original defector his life was wasted.

He definitely knew. There isn't much that happens that Hani doesn't know about. As the guy above me said, he was giving Ferris a chance to admit to what he was doing in Hani's turf behind Hani's back.

To punish him for working for Hoffman and ruining the safe house operation.

1. Yes, Hani knew all right - the guy was right on top of everything. He was giving Ferris the chance to come clean on the Sadiki operation and when he didn't, went right ahead with his own operation - 'kidnapping' the girl, thus forcing Ferris to hand himself over to the terrorists and so on. The point was that the Sadiki operation was never going to work without Hani's help because the CIA didn't have enough assets to track Sadiki once he was snatched (and Ferris got cold feet anyway about it), so the irony is that if Ferris had trusted Hani, he might well have saved himself an awful lot of grief.
