Why Emile didn't and Hal did got nominated at the Oscars!
i mean Hal's acting isn't an Oscar worthy! i think the academy loves old people!

because look at the competition in the lead actor category that year, it was a great performance he just didnt make the cut.

Because Hal's acting was much better in the film? Emile was good but he didn't have to portray much beyond aloofness and carelessness.

Hal was best supporting actor category whereas Emile would be a contender for the Best actor category.

Hal last scene with Emile is alone deserved a nomination.

I DO think Hal deserved it ! He was truly amazing in all of his scenes . Having said that I DO THINK Emile definately should have been nominated wth ?!?
