Why wasn't this nominated for more awards???

Who else believes the movie at least deserved an Oscar nomination for best picture? One of the most moving films i've ever seen; I don't think there's another movie that evokes as much emotion in me as Into the Wild does. Brilliantly produced and directed.

Agreed. Best film of 2007, in my opinion.

Hirsch not even getting a nomination is depressing. One of the best performances ever.

It was quite a good year for films. It was up against No Country for Old Men and There will be blood. Should have beaten Atonment for a nom though.

Had this film been made in 2012, it probably would have gotten close to winning.

If into the Wild was nominated for Best Picture, Juno would have been the movie to not get nominated.

It was a relatively strong year for films.

It's that man again!!

It's baffling how it was snubbed by all major awards. Emile Hirsch deserved at least a nomination. It was the role of a lifetime. Sean Penn's directing was fantastic too.
Not even the Golden Globes recognized it :(

i've seen the movie 4 times(1st time in 2012) its very special movie and i still can't believe how Emile Hirsch didn't get a nomination for Oscar or something...

I remember it having credible buzz, not least Vedder's excellent soundtrack - which I think was disqualified from contention for Oscars for weird technicalities, though I did see he won a Golden Globe.
I also remember its buzz fading off after wide release. I guess it was too abstract for its time & place.
