Haven't walked out of a movie in a long time...
But I walked out of this one - horrible.
shareIt's getting really good reviews:

Unbelievably bad. I would have left too if weather had not been so bad. I want my friggin money back! I know it was supposed to be about indecisive modern people so I didn't expect to give a damn about characters which I didn't. But I thought with School of Rock and Nacho Libre credentials, that this movie would at least be funny. Molly Shannon's character was a truly horrible person. This was something that could have been an interesting direction for the movie that was left undeveloped (and perhaps unintended). Anyway, this direction would not be possible with Shannon's lack of depth and retreading her awkward "Superstar" quirkiness. This movie seemed to aspire to quirkyness similar to Miranda July's "Me, You and everyone, etc" but it even fails this lowly aspiration.
I just saw this last night and I'm still not sure what to make of it.
My first reaction as the credits began to roll at the end was that this was a big long PETA ad.
It was however well acted and thought provoking - which is why I guess I still can't decide if I liked it or not.
Mostly it just made me sad.
You people make me sick. Regardless of the horrible quality of a movie, I could never walk out of a theater. Maybe that's just the film enthusiast part of me speaking, but as a filmmaker, I recognize how much hard work is put into a film. The least they deserve is two hours of my time. If you can't give that much, you really ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Go watch Youtube videos if you don't want to waste time.
That said, I thought this was a very thought-provoking film. I liked the deep analysis of personal relationships in the film. No character in the film was just a background character. Each person had some complex relationship with another person in the film. Each line of dialogue and each glance at the craftily placed camera told so much about what each character thought of the other ones. The PETA ad sentiment is only there if you take their motives as separate of the person's personality. The animal lovers each had insecurities and social awkwardness to deal with which showed in their gravitation to animals.

Wow. I've never made someone sick. I know I should be offended, but I'm rather proud of this one. We'll have to go halfway on this then. If, and that's a BIG if, someone walks out of a movie, I certainly don't want to hear about it. I agree, it is their right, but I more think it is the duty of a true movie fan to sit all the way through something even if they don't like it. So I personally would never even dream of doing it, but if you would, I don't want to know about it, or hear about why you did it. I do respect the opinions of those that don't like a movie, but can tell me what the whole movie is about that they didn't like.

Yes, what a horrible movie. What we really need is 300: The Prequel, The Nutty Professor III, Rocky 14, and more more more animation !
Screw the tacky naysayers, this movie ROCKED !!!!!
