Great Line in 'Year of the Dog'

I wasn't too thrilled with this film overall, but I thought the acting was phenomenal.

A transcript doesn't do it justice, but luckily the excellently written and delivered line is recorded on the movie's trailer, available from the IMDB YotD page.

Al: So, have you ever been married?

Peggy: No. No... That I mean that I never, you know I guess I never ... that ... that ... that never happened. But I think some people just aren't as ... you know... I don't know. It's like that, I guess.

Can you imagine writing that? Brilliant.

Excuse me... Where are we going? And Why are we in this handbasket?

It may have been a little bit of improv on Molly Shannon's part, too. But, to answer your question, I can't imagine someone writing that.
