I just recently started watching this show and I can't believe they put Jessie and Kyle together. I'm so grossed out that they kissed (incest much?) that I don't think I'll watch the last two episodes. Guess I'm glad the series ended if this is where it was going. I knew ABC Family was out there, but this is seriously disgusting.
I was thinking the same thing about them being related, they are the DNA of Sarah, I would class that as half brother and sister. I'm watching season 3 for the first time and and Jessie said they aren't brother and sister???? I still have questions.
As already mentioned, they are not related. Jessi explained this in one of the episodes when his sister asked her the same question. Jessi explained that the relationship between them is more like coming from the same village. In today's society, it is just considered odd because we mentally assign the typical biological relationships between people living under the same roof as expected within a traditional, nuclear family. For instance, would anybody argue that males and females within the foster system are related to one another (unless they come into the system as biological family with someone else)? Not likely. Yet, some of them are brought up in shared foster homes and consider other kids there life-long "siblings." If that doesn't clarify it, think of it as you being involved with someone in your subdivision. You have shared childhood experiences and sometimes even the same teachers, religious leaders, hair stylist, but it doesn't make you related.
Beyond that, I agree that their relationship is icky and it has nothing to do with their respective relationships with their foster parents.

I have a friend and he married a women after his wife died. They both each had a teenage child who got married when they grew up and left home. While perfectly normal biologically it sure seemed strange seeing the two of them kiss. But the parents were attracted to each other so why couldn't their children be?
