Would this movie had been better without Paz Vega?

Don't get me wrong... I love Paz Vega a lot. I think she's incredible.

But she doesn't speak English very well and so her delivery seemed off, like she was a bad actress.

I thought she was excellent. Both her and Freeman were perfect (IMO).

I'm just wondering why they had to ship a Spanish speaking actress from Spain if they needed someone with a Spanish accent in southern California.

That's like getting a Japanese actor from Japan to come and play a Japanese American in San Francisco's Japantown.

>>Oh, well that's different. Nevermind!<<

reply

Look at her. Also, she was in Spanglish, she's nolonger an import.

reply

I thought she was born to play this role cuz her character is not a foreign American, so of course her accent can't be good.

Hello? Where are u coming from? The Mar? Or u didnt watch this movie carefully, did u? She is a Spanish-originally who came to America to ''get her own Green Card''.

I love her role on this movie. I even wish to play it lol.

I thought the casting was inspired; in a character driven production (shot in only 15 days!), the whole film hinges on the chemistry between Freeman and Vega. Neither hit the first pitch out of the park, but I thought they found a rhythm pretty early on, Freeman in the Supermarket, and Vega after confronting her ne'er do well "ex" husband.

She did great, this film was kept very indie....

in Spain have had actors with english accent too: viggo mortensen, and even in tv series as "el internado", an actor plays a role in the series and has a strong english accent, and in the movie is already said that she is not from America.
I find the film very funny that way, and also the accent from southamerica is not the same as the one in Spain.

In Africa there are countries speaking french, but it´s not the same accent they have in France.... and so on.

...and thank heavens for that!

Paz Vega is a talented actress.
No question about it.
She was able to hold on her own with a talented actor like Morgan Freeman.
Her inability to speak English fluently is what is keeping her from becoming a major star in Hollywood.
I think that she needs to improve her ability to deliver her lines in English just like non-American actors like her fellow Spanish actor/actreess,Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
