A beautiful, if flawed, movie

Along with a lot of other films, I watched this while attempting to recover from/take my mind off of a personal tragedy. This movie was the only one that made me feel good and lifted me out of my depression for a time.

I say that even though there are elements of the story that don't quite work, but the actors really pull it off beautifully. I plan to watch this again soon.

I don't mind admitting that part of the attraction for me is Paz Vega, who is maybe the most beautiful actress I've seen on the screen since...well, since maybe Phoebe Cates. The scene where she is changing into her interview clothes in the carwash restroom is heartbreakingly beautiful. Perhaps the most unbelievable part of the movie is the idea that her husband would cheat on her. WTF was he supposed to be thinking?

I think the real indicator of whether a movie like this has worked or not is when you consider whether you care in the slightest about the flaws or not.

When Paz Vega's character,Scarlet, was changing in her dressing room,it was a shot not primarily to expose her hot body.
It was a symbol of her transformation from being a depressed woman with a dead-end job and a cheating husband but to someone who is positive and looking forward to a bright future by acquiring that job of being an office secretary.
That is one connection that brought her and Morgan Freeman's character,Him, to her.
As for his part, his connection to him is a brought a positive feeling as well of having a resurrected film career with his new project.
