I think this was filmed at the same supermarket that was used in American History X when the skinheads went on a rampage.

And the same market that Michael Ealy (Darwyn) is seen working in in "Sleeper Cell." Archie's Ranch Market in North Hollywood.

The supermarket's business was on-going while principal photography have been done in this film.
