How did Peter know Prince Caspian?

when they were fighting the first time, he calls him by name. how did he know him if this is many years after they had been here? or did he think he was one of the earlier Caspians who looked similar to Caspian X?

No, all of the Caspians came after Peter & co. left Narnia the first time.
