Is the white trash still alive somehow? (SPOILER)

USA has been showing this a lot lately, and somehow I keep tuning in right when the white witch appears in a wall of ice. I haven't seen this in its entirety but I'm assuming they're giving in to asking her for help. Is that really her, or just a vision or something?

I think it was like an advanced form of necromancy. So it wasn't just a vision, but it wasn't like she was still alive, either. Then again, I only saw the movie once and am answering more from the book.
