now this movie was set in the 80's did anybody else think the police equipment seamed much more modern than what would be used in the 80's?

shareNo, nothing seemed odd to me that I can remember. You have anything in mind specifically?
I do know that some of the people and events were partially based on real-life cases, I also know Gray does research for these things, I'd be surprised if there was an error made in something like that.
"Why would a banana grab another banana? Those are the kinds of questions I don't want to answer."
This is probably in reference to the kell device in the lighter. It existed long before 1988.
Hasn't anyone heard of the Cold War? It accelerated the development of just such devices.
I agree. James Gray is a thorough researcher. That would be a glaring error if it was not a possibility in the late 80's. The technology existed.

yeah the vests they had were modern plus the kevlar helmets oh and the bug inside the lighter.
shareThe helmet and vest choices were probably a result of an inability to acquire 1989 versions. I say 1989 because that was the year of the gun battle.
The spy lighter definitely existed then.

Kind of makes me feel like I been cheated on every movie I've watch where theew was wires and stuff sticked on peoples chest... they should have all used a lighter.
