Didnt seem like New York City...

I think this movie failed to really make it an NYC film.

Like, most Woody Allen, Spike Lee movies emit NYC to the fullest.

This, however, just seemed to be not very good at marking the setting.

Seems like this movie could have been shot in Detroit, Baltimore or Boston and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Yeah, I know it was NYC but there was just nothing "Brooklyn" about it. No accents, no mannerisms, nothing.

Even all the women here act like they stepped off the sets of the TV show "The Honeymooners". Not very NYC at all.

Maybe it's because you're used to Hollywood-NY, shot in LA or Toronto, with all the gadgets and antics that are supposed to be there. This was real NY.

I'm from New York, the Bronx to be exact. It felt like New York City to me. New York is more than just accents. It's about the grit and intensity. I felt this movie had that.

Wow. The most naive post I've seen in a while. Marking the setting? This film is probably closer to what NYC is really like than what you've seen in your limited and questionable taste in movies.

This film has the grittiest depiction of Brighton Beach and parts of Queens I've seen.
