I thought Samara's father died in the first one?

He electrocuted himself in the first one, so how is there another dad in this one?

That was her adopted father.

A better question would be how Evelyn ended up giving birth in that clinic Naomi Watt's character visits on the second film when it's implied Burke kept her locked up at least until she Samara was born so she won't hurt the child.
