Bad casting...

Now, let me start off by saying, I am a HUGE fan of Tom Selleck. I've enjoyed practically everything he's done and I enjoy him in the Jesse Stone movies as well.

Having said that, Jesse Stone is roughly 5' 11" who weighs about 180...and is in his mid-30 years. This is supposed to make him a seemingly non-threatening person when first meeting him. Gives him the advantage.

Tom Selleck can't portray that...and there are moments in the book where that advantage comes to the forefront.

I had the same problem with the casting of Tom Selleck. No problem with him as an actor but no way is he the "Jesse Stone" that is described in the book. Also all that brooding and depression isn't attractive at all - no way would a hot young prosecuter want a piece of that.

You can have a PHD in brooding and depression IF you looked like TS.....HOWEVER, I always pictured Jesse stone as way more rough around the edges, someone who would ONLY look good if you cleaned him up a bit. TS looks better on a 10 day bender than most guys look maxed out.

Never having read the books, his casting doesn't bother me, but I feel the same way in reverse about Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.

BOHICA America!

He would have made a great Spenser.

You know who didn't have an issue with Tom Cruise? The *beep* author.

I never read the books so I can buy Selleck as a over the hill cop with a drink problem. The brooding gets a bit too much.

Its that man again!!
