Region 1 DVD release?
Is there an official region 1 DVD release anywhere in sight?
shareYou can actually buy Region Free versions of the DVD on eBay. I bought one last week and watched it - great movie BTW - for $11.99 total (including shipping.)
shareThere's a region free dvd on amazon.com from a third party seller. Does anyone know if these are official, legal copies or bootlegs. I don't want to buy one if it's illegal.
shareI can't say for absolutely certain, but I do believe all these "region free" DVD's are bootlegs. I have bought quite a few of them (unknowingly)and after awhile, you catch some errors such as transposing one film's info on another films cover (dead giveaway if you ask me) and not being able to find an official version sold by legitimate sites such as Amazon (this does not include private sellers on Amazon, who could easily be selling bootlegs without Amazon's knowledge) or Circuit City. I also had someone else tell me that a particular movie I was looking for, Death Wish (Japan) was NOT officially released in a U.S. version, so any region-free versions I found (and there were a LOT on EBay) were all bootlegs. It's hard to prove but I have also noticed with some that there is a mark on the inner circle of the DVD-proof that it's an illegally burned copy, perhaps? Of course, that doesn't help you when you are trying to buy it, but it's just an observation I've made.
Hope this helps.
Hair so beautiful that even you, Inga, once asked if you could touch it!
