Call me crazy, but hear me out. Yeah, Dennis is a buffoon and a do*che, but Liz isn't exactly a prize either. Its a silly show and I wouldn't have expected Liz to end up with Prince Charming, after all, that's not what happens in life. I've watched the show through several times and she and Dennis just have great chemistry. Of all the guys she's with in the show, she just seems to fit the best with Dennis. Anyone else feel that way?

Great point btw. I think we all know it was wishful thinking / suspension of disbelief/ it's a f--g show, how Liz ended up with James Marsden. Not Chris. James Marsden, LOL.
Absolutely not. Liz is honest and earnest about herself and her life. Denis is an arrogant, irresponsible child. Liz would have had to be his parent in a long term relationship with him. He is completely amoral, would have cheated on her, needed to be bailed out of jail for adolescent offenses, and he never would have turned into an adult.
Of course, we're talking about a light-as-air comedy so none of it matters.
I get that she would've been a parent to him. I don't disagree with that at all. She would've been. That's what happens in real life though doesn't it? Not with everyone of course, but I dated a guy that I realized early on I became like his mother. My mom married a man that, just, don't even get me started....Isn't there a saying that says "your husband will always be your biggest child" or something like that? Liz is constantly making bad choices, constantly. She and Chris were not okay as a couple. They didn't seem to fit. I don't "like" Dennis, and I'm not saying that he's good for Liz because he's not. It would've made more sense had she ended up with him. Again, it's just a tv show.
