Get Your Pouts At The Ready...

It's Kiera Knightley and Michael Pitt!

A (potentially) dangerously annoying coupling. I'm almost worried that their combined smugness and irritability will actually cause a chemical reaction, explode and kill their co-stars (probably putting them out of their misery).

Oh, jerry, don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars.

I don't know why, but Michael Pitt severely bothers me.
His face......aaaagghhh. And his dumb comments.....

And I really can't stand Keira and her pretentiousness......................

Yayyy me neither. On a very primal level, it's just their pouts that do it for me.

Come on!!! Great actor !?! Kiera Knightley???? She better pray the Pirates franchise stays afloat, to keep her in work.

She's barely better than Orlando Bloom. Their dialogue would be better presented onscreen in word balloons...

"You are Sao Feng the pirate loooord of Singapore..."
"But you are Captain Jack Sparrow... you vanished from under the eyes of seven agents of the East India company..."

Same exact overwrought delivery. And dear God, they never should have shown her legs at the end of "At World's End"!! Kentucky fried thunder thighs!

I'm so upset that Kiera Knightley is going to butcher this beautiful book.
pouting skeletor~~ :(

For me Kiera Knightley is actually acceptable choice when compared to Michael Pitt. After all, she has some tallent. But Pitt is the wrong actor for this part. He's too young and I don't think he has the ability to portray the internal drama of the character. Putting him in the lead has the potential to kill the whole film, and it would be a shame.

Has anyone seen Bully, The Dreamers, and Last Days? Bertolucci cast him in the lead of the Dreamers and Van Sant also thought he was good enough to lead. I think that says something about his talent and ability.
Is everyone basing their opinion on Murder by Numbers?

reply

To mkcbeastie: (sorry, I haven't learned how to quote yet)

You are right, I have only seen Michal Pitt in Murder by Numbers and didn't like him there. You mentioning Dreamers gives me some hope though. I prefer him to turn out a talented actor.

On the other side, I just re-read the books and still think both Michael and Keira are too young to play the characters.

Thank you.

Oh my gosh...I wasn't sure who Michael Pitt is, so I had to go see...And damn that just ruined the whole movie for me. I absolutely adore Keira but this guy aggravated me to death in Murder By Numbers, which I think is the only thing I've seen him in. And I have a huge crush on Ryan Gosling and love him in Numbers, but that Michael Pitt guy gets on my nerves so much that I can't even watch that movie again. I hate his lips.

Hi, my name is Rain. I have my own kiln, and my dress is made out of wheat.

Ha ha yeah I know it was stupid just to fixate on their pouts but they REALLY annoy me for some reason.

Oh, jerry, don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars.

reply

They both do have a signature pout they use often, sometimes too often, imo- I have to give you that.

Crazy talk is my specialty

>>>She's way too muscular!

Don't even go there. A few months ago the tabloids were all over her for being too skinny (Dies she have anorexia, the headlines screamed) now when, according to you, she's filled out a bit, she's gonna get criticized by the tabloids for being too fat.

Is it any wonder women in this country get eating disorders?

She's beautiful however she looks, so just shut up about it!

No you're not. I love both of them.

I think it's quite amusing, actually, for people who dislike these actors to spend all their time talking about them. & obviously watching all of their movies to comment on their acting ability. You can't compare something like 'The Hole' to 'Atonement' - it's like saying someone doesn't improve from the age 15 to 21/22. Admittedly, she wasn't the strongest performer in films like 'Bend it like Beckham' but she was still pretty good!

And, as for 'pouting whore'. - jealous? much?

I think Keira is an amazing actress, and Atonement completely backs this up. She's a beautiful, talented young woman and I really can't wait to see this movie. :)

reply

You're definitely not the only one. I adore Michael Pitt, he was great in Last Days and capital-A-mazing in The Dreamers; for some unknown reason, I still have not seen Hedwig, but I expect he's terrific in that as well. And I think he has gorgeous lips. Actually, I think physically he's lovely, and if I lived wherever he does, I would probably be his stalker.

I do have to say that Keira Knightley is not my favorite actress, but it has nothing to do with her looks. (For the record, I think she's lovely, but I do like a woman with a bit more meat on her bones.) I did like her performance in P&P, she's fairly precious in the Pirate movies, and she was pretty meh (although one must consider the material) in an older super low-budg crapfest called The Hole.

That said, and saying also that I do not know the story this movie is based on at all, I will enter with an open mind and decide whether they were correctly cast after I see the film. I really think that's the best way to go about these things, instead of judging beforehand based on the actors' looks.

Sometimes I doubt your committment to Sparkle Motion.

I'm not sure I'd refer to her as a whore, but I do think of her as a too-tall, too-skinny, non-talented, less-attractive, poor-man's-version of Natalie Portman.

Odd because I think that Natalie is a wannabe, overpraised, talentless snob. Keira's however is good and she didn't pout in P&P. I think she deserved the oscar nod because she oozed charisma and carried that film on her shoulders. Dunno what movie you were watching....probably Norbit.

reply

LOL. Gotta love the banality of the average Keira fan. blue_light77, you DO realize there are (much better) actors working other than Knightley and James McAvoy? And no, I didn't think P&P was a bad movie at all, it was quite enjoyable and a decent adaptation of one of my favourite books - I just happen to think Keira is way too overrated. And if she didn't pout...then we what is pouting for you?

I'm jell-o, you're creme brulee. Big f_cking deal.

reply

I never said that they were the only two good actors. All I said was that she IS a good actor. I know she didn't pout because I didn't see her pout and it's well known that when she works for Joe Wright he has a look that he gives her to tell her to stop pouting when she does. The problem is that morons like you can't find any real reasons to bash her so you choose the pout. I don't know how you can pick on something that isn't even there If you don't like her acting style fine, but at least have a valid reason for disliking her as an actress. Just because someone rises to fame quickly, people brand them as overrated because smaller names aren't noticed as much as they are. And just because they are lesser known or more indie doesn't necessarily make them better actors you pompous half-wit.

reply

Considering you ONLY post about Knightley and McAvoy (who's a very promising actor indeed, I like him), that's what I thought. Thousands of people see her pouting, and that's her major acting tool. But if you call that style, good for you. I find it annoying and silly. I'm gonna see "Atonement" and trust me, I do want to enjoy the film and her performance - if it's really as good as people are saying, I might not be disappointed. I just havent seen a good performance by this girl yet, and if she was ugly she wouldnt be noticed at all - or are you gonna tell me that she's got more talent than, say, Heather Matarazzo, who gave a fantastic performance at the age of 11 in "Welcome to the Dollhouse" and has problems finding decent roles in her adulthood, being typecast as the ugly friend? Unfortunately, that's Hollywood, and how stupid brats pick their stars.

I'm jell-o, you're creme brulee. Big f_cking deal.

reply

Okay I never said anything about James Mcavoy...so I'm not sure where you're gettting that one. I'm not denying that there are other good actors out there. I'm just saying that IN MY OPINION Keira is a good actress. I hope you like her in Atonement too, but for now I think we have to just agree to disagree because we both differ to greatly in our opinions.

reply

D'accord.

I'm jell-o, you're creme brulee. Big f_cking deal.

reply

Come on, people! You may not personally like Keira's acting style, but you don't have to abuse her. Name-calling is not going to change anything and it will just make people think badly of you. I personally think she's quite talented and attractive. That's my opinion. You don't have to share it. But please, don't be so rude and judgemental of people who do like her.

reply

"She's barely better than Orlando Bloom."

Now that was below the belt
Orlando is pretty bad.

Come on now, what you guys are saying about her is pretty mean. Especially skank, bitch and whore. You've never met her so that's a little much. Just because you don't like her acting style or the pout she does is no reason to be calling her all these harsh names. I do admit that her pout does bother me sometimes but it's just something she naturally does. She probably doesn't even realize it sometimes, but still that's no reason to call her all those names. Thats like hating someone because they bite their nails, it's just a habit.

Oh, and by the way, I'm with you tifferbear about Kate Winslet. I'm pissed she hasn't won an oscar yet.
