Similar to Atonement?

Silk seems to be set around the same time as Atonement.
Silk and Atonement are both period dramas, both out in 2007 and both feature Keira looking very pretty!!!! (I saw the photos of Silk)
I'm assuming the storylines will be very different, though.
I just saw Atonement and thought it was really good, I loved the whole going backwards and forwards in time style, and repeating things. It was cleverly filmed. Hopefully I'll buy it on DvD. Will definitely be looking forward to Silk, and The Edge of Love!

Glad you liked "Atonement" I guess in some ways "Silk" is like "Atonement" in that is also a dark, tragic love story. "Silk" is also epic like "Atonement" in that it spans several decades, countries and a wide cast of characters much like "Atonement" does. Hope you can catch "Silk" in theaters. I'm excited for it.

The two movies have things in common, as the OP says. Anyway, Keira's roles are very different from one movie to another. In "Atonement" she plays her usual character, sexual, passionate and quite aggressive. In "Silk" she plays, maybe for the first time, a sweet, lovely type of woman (not a girl anymore); and she's the central character, but her presence on the screen is smaller than usual. I'm used to see Keira playing the main character and the star of the entire movie; this time her presence was less imposing and in a subordinate position to the importance of the story. She didn't even pout . She reminded me of her role in Doctor Zhivago, and a little of Winona Ryder.

I dont think they are similar they have very different story lines

In no way, shape or form is "Silk" anything like "Atonement".

They aren't actually set at the same time ('Silk' is set in the 1860's, 'Atonement' during the second world war), but I agree they have a similar tone.

I don't think they're very much the same at all. While Atonement is a fantastic movie, Silk is just about terrible. I enjoyed Keira's performance the best. As someone said, her character is a bit different than usual. And she pulls off a pretty good American accent.

Michael Pitt as the lead actor in Silk was absolutely boring and just.. ugh. Lame. lol
