letter.

I just saw the film. I was wondering if anyone had the quote of the letter that Helene wrote? I would love to write it down somewhere.

reply

I'm well aware of that. I don't have the book, that's the problem.

Here’s what Helene wrote:
*just don’t let any little kids read it*

My master and beloved do not be afraid, do not move, keep salient, nobody will see us. Stay like this, I want to look at you, I have looked at you so much, but you were not for me, now you are for me, don't come close, please, stay as you are, we have a night to ourselves, and I want to looked at you, I've never seen you this way, your body for me, your skin, shut your eyes, stroke yourself, please, do not open your eyes if you can, and stroke yourself, your hands are so beautiful, I have dreamed of them so often, now I want to see them, I like to see them on your skin, like this, please go on doing it, don't open your eyes, I am here, nobody can see us and I am close to you, stroke yourself, my master and beloved, stroke your organ, please, slowly. It’s beautiful your hand on your organ, don't stop, I love to look at it and to look at you, my master and beloved, don't open your eyes, not yet, don't be afraid, I am beside you, do you feel me? I am here. I can brush you, this is silk, and do you feel it? it’s the silk of my dress, don't open you eyes and you'll have my skin, you’ll have my lips, when I touch you for the first time it will be with my lips, you'll not know where, at a certain point you will fell the warmth of my lips on you, you can't know where if you do not open your eyes, don’t open them, you'll feel my lips you know not where, suddenly. perhaps it will be on your eyes, I shall press my mouth to your eyelids and brows, you'll feel the warmth course through your head, and my lips on your eyes, in them, and perhaps it will be on your organ, I shall press my lips there, and I'll part them little by little as I go down, I’ll leave your organ to part my lips, penetrating between my lips, and pressing on my tongue, my saliva will flow down your skin as far as your hand, my kiss and your hand, the one inside the other, on your organ. Until in the end I shall kiss you on the heart, because I want you, I shall bite the skin that throbs on your heart, because I want you, and with your heart between my lips you will be mine, truly, with my mouth in your heart, you will be mine, forever, if you don not believe me open your eyes, my master and beloved, and look at me, it is I. Who will ever be able to erase this moment that happening? and this body of mine no longer with any silk, your hands touching it, your eyes looking at it, your fingers in my cleft, your tongue on my lips, you sliding beneath me, taking me by the hips, lifting me up, letting me slide onto your organ, slowly, who will be able to erase this? you inside me, moving slowly, your hands on my face, your fingers on my mouth, pleasure in your eyes, your voice, you move slowly but to the point of hurting me, my pleasure, and my voice. My body on your, your back lifting me up, your arms that will not let me go, the thrusts inside me, it is sweet violence, I see your eye probing mine, they want to know how far to go in hurting me, as far as your please, my master and beloved, there is no end, it will not end, don't you see? no one will be able to erase this moment that is happening, you will forever be throwing your head back, crying out, forever I shall shut my eyes, shaking off the tears from my brows, my voice inside yours, yours violence in holding me tightly, there is no time left for escaping or strength for resisting, it had to be this omen, and this moment it is, believe me, my master and beloved, this moment shall continue to be, form now on it shall be, till the very end,
*on back of page*
We shall not see each other again, my master, That which was meant for the two of us, we have done it, as you know, believe me: we have done it for ever. Preserve your life out of my reach. And do not for a moment hesitate. should it be useful for your happiness, to forget this women who now says to you, without regret, farewell.

I hope that's what you wanted. I copied all that out of the book by hand. lol

here is the transcript from the movie

First, the version read aloud by Madame Blanche:

"my dear master, do not be afraid, do not move, do not speak, no one will see us.
stay as you are, i want to look at you. we have tonight to ourselves and i want to look at you.
your body for me, your skin, your lips.
close your eyes, no one can see us and i am here at your side. do you feel me?
when i touch you for the first time it will be with my lips.
you will feel the warmth but you will not know where. perhaps it will be on your eyes.
i will press my mouth to your eyes and you will feel the warmth.
open your eyes now, my beloved. look at me.
your eyes on my breasts, your arms lifting me, letting me slide onto you.
my faint cry, your body quivering.
there is no end to it, don't you see?
you will forever be throwing your head back, i will forever be shaking of my tears.
this moment had to be, this moment is, and this moment will continue from now until forever.
we shall not see one another again, what we were meant to do we have done. believe me, my love, we have done it forever.
preserve your life out of my reach and if it serves you happiness do not hesitate for a moment to forget this women who now says, without a trace of regret, farewell."

and now the version read aloud by Helen, at the end of the movie:

"my beloved, do not be afraid, do not speak, stay as you are.
im here at your side, do you feel me?
when i touch you for the first time you will feel the warmth but you will not know where. perhaps it will be on your eyes.
you could never erase this moment, there is no end to it, dont you see?
what we were meant to do we have done, believe me, my love, we have done it forever.
and if it serves your happiness do not hesitate for a moment to forget this woman, who now says, with out a trace of regret, farewell."

Why did the "madame" put her ring on the letter after she read it? Anybody?

reply

I believe it was a blue flower unless i was mistaken.

"Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

reply

she gave tiny blue flowers to her customers.... the letter was so intimate that simply the reading of was like Helene / The Girl and Herve making love...

so she left the blue flowers and silently left him to his thoughts....

reply

Of course they werent going to waste so long to say all this erotic letter

reply

That is a lovely letter, and I can understand why Helene would want to confront her competition...but I don't understand why she would want her husband to think the lovely letter was from his concubine....
Since you read the book, I thought maybe you have some insite into this?

reply

Helene would have wanted her husband to stay home with her and not return to Japan to his lover. So she went to Madame to have her write as if their encounter was their one and only encounter and was meant to last a lifetime. Finis.

Madame:
"She (Helene) wanted to be that woman."

Herve
"She was that woman."

It is a beautiful and unexpected twist. Poetic. Exquisite.

reply

You have convinced me. I gotta get the book now.

I wonder why it was so sanitized in the theatres?

I don't know. It was rated R so they could have read the real letter. Maybe the directors didn't want the letter to be the focal point of the story as it more was in the book. They wanted it to be just somthing that happened.

reply

I think the message in the letter was delivered very well in the movie, they didn't need all the details for that. For me the ending and the letter saved this movie and I have to admit, at the end, when Helene is reading the letter my eyes teared up a bit.
