shareThe only film this really reminds me of is The Golden Compass. Not sure if that's what you'd be looking for and it also draws very mixed reviews.

*Bedtime Stories (2008), starring Adam Sandler, is a little similar in that it's about stories coming to life (well, sort of)...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0960731/
"A family comedy about a hotel handyman whose life changes when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to magically come true."
*The TV show "Once Upon a Time" (2011) is about a bunch of fairy tale characters that are transported, and then stuck, in a contemporary town in Maine because of a curse cast by "Snow White"'s evil queen...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1843230/
"Centers on a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of Fairy Tales just may be real."
"There isn't any more, you drank the whole fairy...and you're going to your room."
A similar movie is Delirious with John Candy, Emma Sams, and Robert Wagner. John Candy is a writer for a soap opera and ends up in his own show. Not only does he find he can write in changes, but whoever took over his job back in the "real" world can also change things! He also finds that you better be careful what you write - with some hilarious results.
If you like sci-fi, check out Robert Heinlein's book The Number of the Beast. TNOTB is about a group travelling through parallel and alternate universes when they stumble upon Oz... and then Wonderland... It'll turn your whole concept of what's reality upside down. After that one you'll probably want to read all of Heinlein's Lazarus Long books, but especially The Cat Who Walks through Walls.
Neverending Story - I actually posted a thread on here back when this film was coming out, asking readers (basically claiming) if this wasn't just some sort of "Neverending Story of the new millennium", can't seem to find that post on here now for some reason.
But as I say, for those of us old enough to remember, everything about the basic concept of this film just screams Neverending Story rip-off! And not even a decent one at that, I'd have to say... certainly the book can't be this poor?
