Primetime 'DoND' Is Going On Indefinate Hiatus Starting In January

From C21Media.net

US network NBC is putting gameshow Deal or No Deal on hiatus and launching a trio of reality shows as part of its January schedule.

The Howie Mandel-hosted gameshow, which began broadcasting across the States as a syndicated daytime strip, will remain in NBC's cupboard as a utility player, with one-offs or holiday specials on the cards rather than a regular spot.

The show will finish its run on the net after the holidays, and will be replaced by another Mandel vehicle, hidden-camera show Howie Do it, on January 9.

The article also reveals that many of NBC's primetime shows will be off the air during the month of January. Some of those shows will return in Feburary - but not all.

Other shows being given time off by the Peacock are police drama Life, spy series Chuck and Heroes. All are slated to return in February, unlike Lipstick Jungle, My Own Worst Enemy and Crusoe, which are believed to be off schedule for good.

On Sundays, NBC will replace Sunday Night Football with a raft of specials, including the Golden Globe Awards, Saturday Night Live Film Festival, miniseries The Last Templar and Super Bowl XLII.

Well that's disappointing. I liked the show, if for no other reason than you could eat dinner watching it and not miss anything. Oh, and cleavage. Ladies, PLEASE!

I seem to recall the spectacle wearing off ...Millionaire even faster, but then the network really burned that out running it 3 times a week.
