I just love how you can tell by Howie's tone that's he's gonna go to commercial "We'll open her next case....right after this" and the contestants are like "Ugh" seriously are they that stupid that they can't tell a commercial break is coming?

I don't think it's being stupid it is just the typical game show tease tactic.

Yeah but it's like they (the contestants) over do it with the grunting and groaning

It might be that they don't expect Howie to say that. Howie sort of pulls it on people as a suspense joke. And don't forget, they are so wrapped up in the game that they aren't watching the time to think, "Uh, oh, commercial break coming up."

This show is taped so it's not like they have to wait the whole commercial break they probably only wait a few seconds, they are also told to do it to make the show look more exciting.

@davewillborn-1 exactly. The commercial tease is just for the viewers. Most of the guests know how to overreact or don't know that they won't have to wait b/c what the viewer is seeing is prerecorded. The host doesn't always do that either. I've heard him phrase it in more suspenseful/less guessable ways.
