I'm just curious about this: has there ever been an instance on the show (either on NBC or in syndication) where a contestant plays the game so terribly that both Howie and the Banker question on-air whether said contestant even knows how to play the game, or has ever seen the show?? I'm just curious!!
Well there is skill involved. A person doesn't know the contents of each case, but deciding when to take the banker's offer is controllable, and that is where the skill lies. You must consider your odds, the offer, and worst case scenario. Quite like Poker, a person can't control the cards he's dealt but he can determine how he plays them.
Just wondering if game shows are fake or fixed in anyway. I mean I seen a episode of deal or no deal uk episode where there was a empty box ever sence then I wondered if the game shows are real or fixed.
Well I wondered that. You could certainly have two different amounts(high/low) in each case, controlled remotely, so the normal opening of the case would reveal a high number or a low number, whichever would produce the most drama. Of course, this would be complex to pull off, in order to keep the amounts straight, but not impossible. It seemed like during the "million dollar missions" the player's first rounds produced lots of low cases then the next round the hit A LOT of big cases. Just a thought.
Except that - in the US, anyway - ever since the big game show scandals of the 1950s, game shows are very carefully monitored, their mechanisms (like the cases) checked, and so on. Not saying it would be impossible for the show to be rigged, but the ad revenue to be gained doesn't begin to make the risk worth it.
