Shelly WILL survive

Shelly is my favorite. While at times she felt defeated by this disease, the point is that she was able to see past it and talk about it. She is clearly the strongest (on the inside) out of the group. Brittany won't be able to overpower it until she's out of highschool. Polly is too strong a leader and will always project insecurities onto others. Alisa...I have no prediction for her. With the right attitude, and continued encouragement from her family, Shelly WILL live.

You've obviously never had any true meaningful loss or hardships in your lifetime. Lucky you.

But brace yourself... No one travels that road too long. I just hope someone embraces you in that time of need, instead of tossing you aside like you'd seem to do to someone in trouble.

I have hope for Shelly too. She really seems to have good intentions, she is just scared of growing up/responsibilty. I felt SO bad for Alisa, though. She wants to get well and be there for her kids, but her insurance made her leave too soon.
I felt bad for Polly too. She wants to be the leader and cool big sister, but she needs to deal with her own issues before she can try to help others.
Brittany broke my heart. I saw SO much of myself (when I was 15) in her. She has it doubly hard, considering her Mother has E.D. as well.

Thats true,

they pretty much all went right back to their behaviour after leaving the clinic. ANother thing I thought was really ironic is that almost the entire staff was close to being obese :S

i've watched the documentary about three times (it's got that car crash appeal, in a way). after the first viewing, i didn't care for polly either. but the second and third times i saw her story, i think i started to understand her a little better. yeah, she smoked in her room, got a tatoo and gave anti-depressants to a friend. those are all bad things. but look at that tattoo--it's the symbol of recovery. obviously, that meant something to her! sure, she went about it in the wrong way, but her intentions were good ... i guess. anyway, she did want to be there, and she knew she had to be there. she was afraid to go home because she knew she wasn't ready to be thrown into the real world.

but yeah, they had to send her home. ultimately, i don't think she was as manipulative as she was immature. shelly too, and probably several others. they easily acted 8-10 years younger than they were. scary.

I worry about Brittany; she was heartbreaking and always sort of taking care of her mother. I hate to say this, but if it wouldn't devastate Brittany, I think her mother should be behind bars. You DON'T introduce "chew and spit" with your child.
