really overweight nurses

i'm not trying to be rude but i noticed that almost all the nurses were really overweight.i would think to someone who is constantly scared about being fat that being treated by people that were what you despiesed in life would be a set back.i don't know if that was what the director was conveying in a way.also did'nt britanys mom make your skin crawl.what a bad example for her.i just wanted to jump through the tv and hug her and tell her she is beautiful.something that her mother was not mentally capable of.

I swear all the nurses in the hospitals are obise! is that one of the requirements to be hired as a nurse at a hospital or what?I know, I think hospitals would get alot more happy patients if they had sexy nurses in high heels mayby with a tight white hooters shirt, maybe wet? wait i think im goin a little to far here, but you all know what i mean right? :) :)

I am a nurse, and of normal weight, I do admit that there are a lot of nurses who are overweight, but you get that in any profession?? Also, the stereotypical view of nurses that shadowvortekkx has is completely ridiculous! imagine trying to walk around all day in high heels :) plus a wet t shirt must get cold. hehe. We do have nice little dresses which would be worth a look though ;) I have worked in an ED clinic and patients respond to an overweight nurse the same as one with a healthy weight. People with anorexia will always think they're fat, and even nurses of a normal weight will seem fat to them too. There's not much we can do to change the way they think , it's a change they have to want to make themselves.

True but having a fat lasy tell me to eat is like having a raging alcoholic tell me to drink...kinda ruins it for me

I found it disgusting that so many of them were overweight. It has nothing to do with a superficial standard. It's that they are working in a health-care setting, trying to teach these girls to eat healthily and respect their bodies, and they can't seem to do that themselves.

i no i felt bad for britney when they were eating together. she was setting a great example.

Those women weren't grossly obese by any reasonable standard.

I agree with this. I noticed it straight away and it made me uncomfortable. I believe it didn't help with the girls suffering from ED at all.

As someone who has gone through years of eating disorder treatment (and, mind you, I can ONLY speak for myself and nobody else)... the weight of a nurse, doctor, fellow patient or anyone else really never had any bearing on my behaviors or attitudes toward myself. A nurse, regardless of her size or shape, was someone I saw as a selfless, good person there to help me. I could always see beautiful and wonderful things in everyone around me. The only person I've ever judged based on their weight is myself.

while I think it is important to make sure that the patients see all body types, I think it is extremely hypocritically to have morbidly obese people working at an eating disorder clinic, just like they should not have nurses or doctors who are anorexic.

being morbidly obese is a kind of eating disorder.

Exactly! I think it's a double-standard. How could you be promoting good health and proper caloric intake when you can't control your own diet? Those nurses were on the other end of the range, while they should be in the middle instead.

If a doctor was advising me not to smoke, but he was a chain smoker, I wouldn't take him very seriously.

Many of the staff members looked as though they may have been abusing food by consuming too much of the wrong kinds of food.
