As a member of the Slow Food Movement, I say...
Ok I KNOW it’s not about food but…
Renfrew definitely reinforced the intense focus on food.
I wouldn’t want to have to eat a cupcake slathered with colored frosting while a bunch of people watch me choke it down either. That was just mean and sick. I hated that scene. It was uncomfortable to watch, and I have zero respect for Renfrew. The food they provided looked REALLY unappetizing.
I wonder if it would have been any different if they had given Polly the same calories worth of delicately seasoned veal scallopini with lemon and caper sauce, or beef barley vegetable soup made with Love and the best freshest ingredients? And it would have been a gift to Polly if her friends joined her in a tasty bite for lunch, instead of gawking.
Or why not celebrate a birthday with a live band, singing, dancing, and joyful play and skip the stupid "birthday cake" convention altogether?
