I guess people always look bigger on film, but to me none of the main girls looked SUPER skeleton thin to me. Maybe it was the clothing too, or like I said tv. And when i saw Shelly weighed in at 86 pounds i wondered if she's very short? Or maybe most movie and tv stars really are too thin if this is what I'm used to. NOT trying to be rude I just wonder if I'm missing something.
shareYou are missing the point. Eating Disorders are not about food and weight. They are about core issues that are dealt with by controlling food and weight. 86 pounds is too thin. Perhaps you have body image issues? Don't mean to b e rude but 86 pounds is very thin and she was not short.

I was thinking the same thing! It must be the camera, or like you said, we have become accustomed to extremely thin actresses on TV so these girls on the documentary weren't as shocking. I'm glad someone else had this thought.
shareIf they didn't look horribly thin to you (I mean....their bones were practically coming through their skin!!!) then you have serious issues.
shareNo one looked skeletal, but they didn't really show any skin. They always seemed to cover up and wore loose clothes. But Brittany's hair loss was apparent. If you compared Shelly side by side with her normal-weight twin, you might see the difference in the thighs.

I don't know how this wasn't obvious. In the case of Shelly she did weigh 86 pounds at one point but that was hardly her issue. It took nothing but a few weeks for her to reach over 100 pounds but her psychological issues were still there. Not surprising she relapsed after the documentary. They didn't sufficiently deal with her problems or the other women's in treatment. Once they got over 100-110 they were ''out''.
