Does shouting at planes/helicopters help?

Everyone in reenactments does this, and I guess I might too if I'm desperate. I can see flailing your arms might create movement to catch your eye, but there's no way shouting will be heard even to a low-flying vehicle.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

You would think that these dumb asses would at least carry a signal mirror if they were going into the wilderness..but then I guess we wouldn't have this show.

Or a satellite phone.

No
if you watch survivorman or bear grylls they will tell you how to build signal fires, write huge letters in the dirt/sand, ect.

Yelling is pointless, you have to make yourself standout and be noticed by sight not sound. Hell, when you are on a plane and someone asks you a question 1 row over at normal tone, can you hear them clearly?
