Are there any blacks that get into trouble in this show

It seems all the episodes are about white people. Do you think blacks just don't like doing these type of things, are they too scared or are they too smart.

I had to laugh when I saw this question. I am part white and part Polynesian and I've wondered this myself. My Hawaiian relatives don't do some of the crazy stuff the tourists do. They take risks (like anyone who surfs) but they don't take unusual risks (like rock climbing, sky diving, and even ghost tours are approached with caution). I often wondered if it has something to do with Western European stereotype of a desire to conquer nature and people of color stereotyped as having more of a reverence of nature.

Its not just western europeans. A lot are from the good ole USA. I think maybe you hit on something. Maybe whites have less respect for mother nature and blacks are "afraid of mother nature. After all a lot of episodes are about the weather turning bad.

No they have the show "Cops" for that.

Maybe they haven't found a black person who has survived something as amazing as the other stories?

all of this *beep* seems like stuff white people do.

i'm pretty outdoorsy and i must be honest, it's extremely rare to see black people hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, etc. you're more likely to encounter bigfoot.

white people love doing this type of stuff, black people don't. i think that's why you don't see any people of color on this show.

i'm Mexican and go visit relatives in places that don't yet have electricity. Places where you have to hike to get to the fields or tend to the animals. No one has ever gotten lost or seriously hurt. If weather looks bad people stay home. The people in those areas can tell when the weather is going change even if there is nothing that signals it to me.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

probably because they're too smart

too smart or just not interested. or something.

My theory is that it has to do with wealth/security rather than skin colour. People who come from wealthy, secure societies are much less likely to be afraid of things. They feel safe and invincible and like to try out risky activities for fun.

People from less secure and poor backgrounds (not necessarily that they themselves are poor but are from societies where being poor and in trouble doesn't seem that far away) are far less likely to take risks like that. They are not seeking danger and excitement in the same way and value their safety and comfort more. They don't need to seek danger and hardship because it's not that far away to them.

I live in Australia and after some bush fires where people were hurt because instead of evacuating they stayed behind to try and protect their homes, a friend who grew up in a third world country said to me 'this would never happen where I come from, people would definitely evacuate and not risk their lives to save their homes'. I thought that was interesting, as you would think poor people would be more likely to try and save their few possessions (rather than wealthy people who could afford a new house). But I think it's because Australians are well off and comfortable, they feel like nothing really bad would happen to them, they are less likely to be fearful.

I'm black and I can tell you that most of us don't do a lot of this in fear of a catastrophe. I've been hiking when I was in Korea and really didn't want to do it, but my office did it to support my NCO who was re-enlisting in the military. A lot of us take risks by doing small things like riding four wheelers or drag racing. Though you can still get injured, at least you are on the ground or not off by yourself. I think with proper preparedness a lot of those activities, as seen on the show, can be fun...but you won't see too many of us doing it. And to one of the other comments, just because you've seen a few black people on Cops doesn't mean everyone is in trouble. My brothers nor myself have never seen the inside of a jail cell, unless it was on television. And both of our parents have been married for over 28 years. :)
