Clooney to Direct
I was reading in the January Uk Empire that George Clooney is set to direct this Coen Brother penned comedy - can't remember what it said it was about however.

Why!? The Coen's best work is when they write and direct! Everything they did when they both wrote, Ethan produced, and Joel directed was gold! Why deviate!?

They weren't going to do it themselves anyway so Georgie doing it is all on the plus side.
shareActually, they both had equal creative control. Ethan was as much a director and Joel was as much a producer.
shareThey have ALWAYS produced, directed and written together. The only reason they listed Joel Coen as the sole director was because of that really stupid *beep* rule that the DGA instilled where a film may only have a single director. They have since decided to waive the rule for "established" directing teams, like the Coens (unfair, if you ask me, the rule should be abolished completely). The DGA is filled with stupid rules like that.
shareEspecially when you consider that most big budget US films are actually directed by a committee of glove puppets from the company manufacturing the toy sets based on the film.
shareimho all the hollywood guilds serve exactly one purpose. to 'socialize' the amount of credit everyone gets, at the expense of those who really deserve it.
just watch how long the credits are (both timewise and the amount of actual text via smaller fonts and/or faster scrolling) as compared to even just a few years ago.
imagine if this were done in other aspects of life. buildings would have plaques bigger than the building itself with every guy who swung a hammer. books would have 30 pages of 'credits' for everyone who read it and made a comment. your food at a restaurant would have a list giving credit to the farmer who grew the wheat in the bread. etc...
in the 'real' world, getting PAID is your credit. but oh no... not in the movie business.
and this is just one small example. american movies have suffered greatly thanks to the hollywood system. and the guilds are a large part of the problem.

I think that someone else directing one of their films is great, I love their movies, but they are directing enough as it is, and it is the only way this movie was going to get made anyways. So that is a good reason to deviate from that original formula if I've ever heard of one.

Does anybody know anything about storyline or plot being used in the movie?
I'm interested, but would rather be told rather than look for the information myself.
I'm lazy.
Blame the inter web.
I would much rather Joel and Ethan direct it, but Clooney has an impressive track record as director. I would be fine if he directed this.
shareIm really interested in what even the story is, anyone got an idea?
Last Film/s I watched:
Wind that Shakes the Barley 8/10
have you guys not seen confessions of a dnagerous mind. Clooney is a great *beep* director and has a talented eye for extrodinary shots and placement of the cam.
I feel he would do a great job, plus he has worked with the brothers before on O brother where art thou, so they know eachother.
i am a coen bros fanatic, but i am not dissapointed about this at all; if anything, excited

Even though I realy love the way The Coens direct, I'm very curious about Clooney directing more films. After watching "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" I was absolutely amazed by the original and virtuosic direction by Clooney in this interesting biography written by Charlie Kauffman (although I find "Good night and good luck" extremely boring).
So I WOULD like to watch more films directed by him and see where his skills lead him. And what better movie to test one's innovative directing skill than a Coen brothers comedy?

This has been in development since that *beep* long
2005 😨
That means it's going to be really good, right?
shareLOL!!
I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw some posts were written in 2007, then I went back to the first post and saw 2005... 
Is this still going to happen? I really hope so. The story sounds interesting.
