I'm in the process of watching Spiral as I write this.
So far, it hasn't been engaging, thrilling, or even the least bit entertaining.
When I started this thread I had just found out about Spiral, so take it easy!
It wasn't even out in theaters or on DVD.
I personally loved Roman, for reasons I won't go into detail, and I'm just a big fan of Bettis and McKee.
The similarities I see now is that both lead weirdos (Mason and Roman) their first names have five letters.
Also they both have boring *beep* jobs. Roman is a welder, and Mason is a telemarketer.
Roman doesn't have a hobby like Mason, Mason paints and what not.
Roman doesn't have asthma like Mason.
But both become obsessed with a cute blonde girl. In Roman, he chokes her to death then cuts her up as the movie progresses and gets rid of her.
In Spiral, the blonde chick in his sketch book bares a resemblance.
Seems to me that in Spiral they took two characters from Roman (the artsy suicide girl from the climax IN Roman and Roman himself) to create Mason.
Anyway, Mason and Roman have co-workers who are a-holes, and then these characters of the super cheery outgoing girl who seems to drop into the loner psycho's lives is basically the same.
though I liked the hippie flower child chick from Roman way better.
Roman was shot in digital, which made it look grittier and more like we were peeking into someone's life.
When I see Joel David Moore, I see the dude from Grandma's Boy.
I liked him in HATCHET, but this one's still iffy until I finish it.
I'll probably update it.
Roman still rocks!
Don' tell me to relax. Don't tell me to *beep* RELAX! Just keep your *beep* FACE OUTTA MY PANTS!
