How will they do Something Blue?

I actually just read Something Blue today and loved everything up until the end. I feel like it was anticlimactic how she came to her realization that she was an awful human being and it was just too easy of a transition for her. Completely not happy with how they did it.

With that being said, how do you make the movie when in the first one Ethan basically hated Darcy? And darcy basically hated Ethan. The changed the character to a point where I find it hard to imagine Darcy ending up with Ethan, particularly after Ethan confused feelings for Rachel in the first movie.

Thoughts?

The movie butchered the character of Darcy so badly that I'm not sure how they're going to make "Something Blue" without totally rewriting the character or significantly changing the story. "Something Blue" is my favorite book, but the Something Borrowed movie changed or eliminated almost everything from the books that made "Something Blue" work.

Having read Something Blue, I was also hoping this movie (Something Borrowed) did better, for the sequel to be possible.

I think Something Borrowed was produced with the intention of implying that Darcy goes to visit Ethan in London (post-credits scene), but that scene seemed rushed IMO). It's safe - if Something Borrowed was successful, it gives people a glimpse of Something Blue; if it did not fare well, it is up to the audience to interpret what would happen if a pregnant Darcy goes to Ethan.

And (sorry this is getting so long) I agree, Something Borrowed made it quite clear that Darcy and Ethan weren't too fond of each other.

something borrowed wrote themselves into a corner when it was discovered ethan had a thing for rachel. now darcy's going to look like 2nd best. again.

With Rachel and Dex getting together, they could have Ethan accept this fact and move on by focusing on his career instead. With Maybe he and Darcy's relationship with develop slowly...who knows?
