daring, bold, artistic excellence but we all know

that means its doomed at the box office and oscars. Glad he made it, glad I saw it, but after seeing it I'm not surprised at the snubs. I guess I'm weird bc I'm the type to say "oscars are meaningless" yet I can't help but resent MS getting snubbed. I have to keep reminding myself how much of a dog and pony show awards season is.

As picky and biased as they are, I am glad the Oscars are still around in this day and age. They bring an awareness to low-mid budget dramas and encourage people to go see something other than the endless amount of redundant sequels, reboots and Marvel/DC movies that are made nowadays. Some of the great American directors like Scorcese, Kubrick, Welles and Hitchcock have gotten snubbed because they made movies that were too dark or weren't dramas, but Lean, Wyler, Wilder, Fleming, Coppola, Forman and several other great directors have gotten
recognition. I think the Oscars are playing a big part in keeping great movies people go see for the actors rather than the special effects alive.

Quite frankly they made movies that went way over their heads. However those other filmmakers got their due recognition by them though. I guess you're right in that they bring to our attention a particular film aesthetic which can be a good thing.
