Adam Sandler - Who fan
As soon as I saw the title "Reign Over Me" I thought to myself "Hello - Adam Sandler's in this - I think I know the reason for the movie title". I believe Adam's a big fan of The Who and he gave them a tribute, along with Eddie Vedder, at their induction to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
"Reign Over Me" comes from the songtitle ""Love Reign Over Me" which was a key song and theme on The Who's 1973 album "Quadrophenia", about the agnst of a young man trying to fit into a peer group which conflicts with life at home. It's set in the mid-1960's in London and the protagonist, Jimmy, is a Mod, trying to keep up with his Mod mates. All his money goes on sharp hand-made suits and clothes, soul and R&B records, pills (uppers and downers), his Lambretta scooter, all night dancing and beach-fights with their enemies, the motor-bike riding, leather-wearing Rockers. The song was sung by Roger Daltrey.
In 1979, Quadrophenia was made into a film (listed in IMDb).
In Reign Over me, who sings the title song at the end ? Some of the sythesizer work sounds like the Who track, but the singer and guitarist sound a little different. Did The Who re-record it recently ?
