I find it hard to imagine someone else acting as Charlie. I mean, Sandler has done some bad movies, some hilarious movies, and he has done good movies like this. This is every actor's story. But when it comes down to this, no one else could have played his role better. His personality, his voice, his character...was perfect. He did everything so damned well that he had me crying my eyes out.

Seriously, if you want to diss on sandler, go ahead. but don't diss on the greatest role he has ever done (in my opinion at least) without thinking with both sides of your brain. If I found myself in his situation, I'd be the exact same, and I doubt there are too many men who can say that. But as I am not afraid of my emotions, I admit to it.

So instead of saying he is a terrible actor, or this role sucked, put yourself in charlie's position and tell me...would you not act the same?

I agree he was absolutely phenominal! I didnt know he had it in him to pull off such a fantastic performance. He definitely should have been nominated for an Oscar. The movie itself was brilliant too. I think its the most underrated movie ive ever seen!

I've always said Sandler should back away from Comedy and do Drama, he was awsome in this, Spanglish and that other one...I forget the name.

Punch Drunk Love? He also had some pretty good dramatic moments in Click

Yes Punch Drunk Love, awsome movie, so was Click I think I would rate Click as Sandlers last good movie, before click..comedy wise it would have been Big Daddy, anything inbetween comedy wise sucks.

Yeah his older comedies like Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison etc were the funniest. He seemed to have slightly lost his touch in movies like The Longest Yard & 50 First Dates

There's another thread on IMdB where I list Adam Sandler as one of my top 5 comic actors. 50 First Dates is one of my all time favorite movies, and I love Big Daddy also.

But Reign Over Me absolutely blew me away. Adam Sandler is brilliant as Charlie, and he shines against the backdrop of an all star A-list cast. Bravo.

I pretty much agree about his comedies - most of them aren't that good. I love "Billy Madison" and "Anger Management" so far - these made me laugh so bad I almost pissed my pants. I cannot say anything against "Reign Over Me" - it is wonderful movie, I just wonder why "Punch-Drunk Love" is lower than it. This was not only best of Sandler's movies, but also one of the best movies ever. While ROM is just a drama (good drama, but nothing too different from the others), PDL has so much more. And most importantly, it isn't like othe movies. I just love PDL. And its the best of Sandler's comedies too...

I mean if you like being wrong, then fine...its my opinion that your wrong and you have awful taste in movies, so lets just respect my opinion.
