Hundreds of thousands of Grieving survivors

Just think of the hundreds of thousands of grieving survivors in the third world emotionally devastated by USA bombing for the past 40 or so years. I hope they handle it better.

At least they didn't have Canteen Boy making fun of them by rubbing their grief in their faces.

See what I did there?

Fight the power!

Also, to the OPs comment about Sandler making fun of them, Adam Sandler's performance in this was outstanding. He deserved at least an Oscar nomination for this.

reply

He did NOT deserve and oscar nomination for this. What are you talking about man? Did you even watch the movie? He will never get an Oscar because he can´t act. He can be funny though.

Whats that on your face!

reply

umm, did YOU watch it.

Sandler gave a fantastic performance. It was heartfelt. It was believable. It was nothing short of amazing. It was his best role, in my opinion.

Can't act? You don't have any movie or music taste... britney spears.. hahaha

Well... there is no need to restrict this to USA alone... There are millions of people on this planet who suffered from the loss of relative from war or violence... Ask to people in Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Liberia, Sudan, Angola, (half of Africa, actually), or from Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Tibet , Timor, Cambodia, Afghanistan, etc, etc etc..
Unfortunately, the list is soooooooo long.
This movie is a tiny window showing only a tiny part of a huge problem: how those who survive a loss can cope with their daily life...
And no need for a war or a spectacular terrorist attack for this. I just think that if my family disappears, say, in a car accident, I would perhaps be like Adam Sandler...
To be fair, he did a very decent portrayal of someone who suffers, and we all suffer in a different way...

Nice user name. As per your statement, yes, it is just a movie, but a very powerful one that people in some way can relate to. I felt it was representative of many things that have been going on globally for a long time. There are many people that care about others who are dealing with horrible things and 9/11 was used as an example. If people want to read things into them, they can. If you see it as just a movie, then that is fine too. Terrible things happen and there is nothing we can do about them as common people, that does not mean that life is not worth living or the people in the world are not worth fighting for (not in a war like sense.)

Who cares about politicizing movies, if that is what people think about, then they should be able to express that. I am not trying to attack you by saying that. All I am trying to express is that movies such as this do get people thinking about things other than themselves and I think that is a good thing. But, I respect that it does not do that for you and it does not make you a bad person just like politicizing does not make anyone else a bad person.

I guess art is painful and it hurts.

Good film. Politically I agree. I wonder sometimes who's crying for the Palestinians. Or the iraqis or the afghan. But the story is about this one man and his friend and their thing. We could all do with good people around us. I wish I could see some of the other stories besides on the News.

Communism is our Future, you should go read your world history if you think your name is truthful. Read it, then read it again. Or, do you think it's all lies? I don't agree with some of the things America does overseas, but, I'd rather live like I am than with communism. Name one country that has actually, REALLY benefited from communism. Communism follows socialism. Either way, you're screwed.

Like what? Sending them food and money?

Is it our fault if their corrupt money turns around and takes that food and money for themselves? Is it our fault that we've been sending food and money to Third World countries for 40 years and they are *still* starving because those corrupt governments take it all?

Well, yeah, it is.

i havent bothered to read other replies but i dont really care. Your post is so ignorant it doesnt deserve too much thought, but whatever any country does to any other country anywhere in the world is totally irrelevant to this film. First of all this film was not written by nor directed by the USA government so that rebukes any point to what you wrote. Second of all this is a movie about how a man deals with his devastating grief, its not a country thing, a race thing or any sort of "thing" its simply a story. So I dont know what beef is far up your behind towards the USA, but keep it to yourself or at least make a relevant arguement.

Following your idiotic logic (OP), nobody could make a film about the Holocaust because the Israelis have killed lots of Palestinians. You are a typical example of some of the tw*ts on here who put up one facile post and then vanish from the thread!

What an ignorant comment from blaine3-2. Get on the bandwagon of hating the U.S. But don't think of it as countries. Think of it as if America was a person, and Japan was a person. If I was America and you were Japan and you punched me in my nuts(low blow cheap shot when I wasn't paying attention, kind of like Japan's vicious attack on innocent and off-duty navy and other personnel on pearl harbor) then yes I would be down for a minute, but there should be no doubt in your little tiny mind that Ima put you to the ground after that. It's a revenge type of thing. It's called an eye for an eye, or where I'm from it's called the rule of kanun. You can't let that stuff go. For the respect of the people that died that day, they had to do what they had to do. Just like for self-respect i would have to get u back. But dont u dare tarnish the feelings of the people who lost family on september 11th, thats just unfair. Every country in the world has suffered, but the leaders of Japan brought it upon their own country.

Totally agree with you "iluvallmovies" but you are wasting your time replying to the idiot OP who is one of the sh!t and run posters who puts up crap on here and then takes no responsibility for his retarded viewpoint!
