I wonder if anybody died after the lorry took out that Roadside Cafe? This easily has to be one of the best ever Cliffhangers to any Series' Final Episode .... a true classic in the making (that sure could be thought of as so in 5/10 years time I think).
I have not seen such a Cliffhanger in many a year and am truly inquestive as to what the first epsode of the next Series will bring. I just hope the wait is not too long until the next Series.
The thing is that roadside cafe was well down the road when the lorry swerved, they just stood there watching it approach..didn't it occur to them to RUN!
No one expects realism from WR but there was one particularly(intentionally?) hilarious bit in the 'last' episode-Byrne-announcing the school closure in assembly-told the pupils they were the best and most rewarding students any teacher could wish for! What about the open gang warfare;head boy almost killing head girls sister in an arson attack;Scout being 'sold' into marriage;Josh going crazy etc etc At least half of the pupils were lucky to avoid being locked up and all of the teachers would have been struck off for incompetence.
Hard to understand-surely a lot of them would have left by the end of the year, those takling GCSEs and A-levels.And how old are the likes of Finn and tariq supposed to be?
I for one won't be watching the next series, moving to scotland and taking staff and students to scotland seems far fetched.
Chalky was one of the nicest characters in the show and it looks like he won't be in the next series. Also another thing to mention not all the staff would go, you couldn't believe Grantly would want to move to Scotland, neither would Tom.
Last series was very interesting Alex Walkinshaw character Gez I really felt sorry, he was bullied by the headteacher just because he fancies his mrs.
However some say the last couple of series weren't as good as the early ones and I have to agree, some of the storylines used in the last series were used before.
Personally I can see Waterloo Road being axed after the next series, I don't think they'll get the same amount viewers as before.
To be honest I think the last series should have been the final season, the show should have ended before it gets axed. It would sound better to end on s good note of "We feel we did enough stories about waterloo road and now it's time to move onto something else" instead of saying "axed it, because the viewing figures have gone down!"
Moving the show to scotland will be it's downfall mark my words, it's like moving coronation street from Manchester to London would that happen?!.
Don't get me wrong the idea of a badly run school in Scotland would worked as spin off for maybe Eddie Lawson or something.
They must be running out of token 'issues' as seen in past episodes - the pupil/teacher love affair, the gay couple(surely they would have met with heaps of homophobic comments in real life),the girl who got involved with porn, the one who dangled her baby over the stairs. They do tend to be bowing down to sensationalism like most of the soaps rather than credible events, which may end the series rather than the change of location.
