It's obvious that Barry Barry will...

Turn good. Before we know it he'll be will be mates with them all and everything will be normal and he'll come good.

If not then surely by now he would have been either excluded or arrested!

Look at the way Paul Langley was when he first appeared: angry, wielding a knife and that close to being a murderer.

Later on he's the happy-go-lucky sidekick of Bolton Smilie, and all is well.

Not really. I mean, there have been some, as sometimes you may create a character not really knowing what you're going to do with him/her and things just kind of happen. WR is not immune to that, but for the most part it tries to be realistic.

You get characters like Bolton (this is before his return) who come in as bad guys, and things happen and the end the series somewhat nicer - they don't change drastically over night, it's a slow process. That episode when Bolton was tricked into thinking he was going to prison, after seeing how horrible it really was (he was bragging to everyone that he'd be "cool" enough to survive prison) his change started there, but there were still episodes were he acted the way he used to.

They went back and forth with Sharkey as well, and it was obvious to me that they were going to do a reforming storyline with Seddon, but the actor was arrested for hitting his girlfriend or something, so they couldn't use him - or even acknowledge his character's existance. However, they usually take their time with reforming characters, or at least they did.

My favorite Final Destination is the 4th – DEAL with it!

reply

He doesn't seem to be reforming to me, he's a horrible character and don't think he would change esp with his mother always in his ear. Maybe when Kyle has his episode after getting out of prison he'll be the one to make Barry see sense.

reply

I don't thinks Barry would listen to Kyle, their completely different types of rebels. Kyle's an aggressive, wild immature kid who joins gangs for violence and can't make his way through school. Barry is clever and mature, he plays the system and manipulates people and situations, whilst he can be threataning and it's implied he has and can fight he appears not to go looking for violence like Kyle. I'd imagine Barry wouldn't be too impressed by Kyle as he is much less inteligent and is the sort of mindless thug Barry would use rather than befriend or look up to.

reply

They could do that like Tariq, Finn and the other reforms but waterloo road has followed through with their bad boys in the past such as Earl or Kyle. Barry's a little different, in a way he's more pro, Kyle was always a bit pathetic as was tariqu ad earl was a mindless psyco but Barry's clever and knows what he's doing and he's doing it for his own, often money based reasons. Finn and kyle wanted to spread anarchy in the school and bolton and lewis wanted to be feared barry just does what he wants irregardless of the school, the school matterd to the the others but not barry it's just a place to go to and if it gets in the way of his family he'll with it but otherwise he doesn't care so I don't think he'll be a reform because he's not causing that much trouble, he just won't draw a line when pushed

reply

Paul was never meant to be bad from the outset. His uncle Dermot constantly slapping him around for no reason pushed him to the point of wanting to kill him.

The likes of Earl and Kyle are rotten to the core and have no remorse.

Barry was kind of a wimp for letting Steve-O do what he pleased to his sisters.

Barry Barry needs his comeuppance in this series, as he's long past the; 'he might turn good motif' or angle.

He's been enemies with way too many characters on the show now to give off any signs he'll change eventually. Why he hasn't been excluded is probably down to the writers giving the show its antagonist character and also to genuinely reflect that schools tend to be like that and slack off in not getting rid of real troublemakers.

He'll either be arrested, or be beaten up and dealt with by one of the other students or teachers even (don't even rule that one out). Barry Barry long past the point of no return, sorry but its true. He's not going to become nice at the end of the day. I can't see anybody really liking this guy who seems utterly worthless.

ST4

Name's Django, The "D" is silent.

reply

Funny you should say that, ST4, as the Barrys seemed to have warmed up to Kevin after the Jeremy Kyle-style debacle concerning Kevin's mother, who by the way is irredeemable for what she did to him.

Ignoring the time he stole boltons gun thing, as it seems the show has anyway what has he really been caught doing that could get him expelled. Unlike finn or kyle, barry rarely goes into school with the intent to cause trouble he doesn't want to distrupt and he doesn't seem to care about the school unlike most other WR badboys. Barry does his own thing and usually keeps a low profile and if he does do something bad he usually plays the system and doesn't get caught.

reply

He is troublesome, his surname is also his forename and he looks at an age to be one of the teachers.

We don't know what happen, if Barry Barry will will turn good or bad, due to terrible writing, were someone can steal money from a bank, or charity then return it and not get arrested, we will have to wait till next season to see what happens next.
