Now Kale's former teacher is just going to *beep* all over him for somewhat being the cause of his cousin's death. Plus, there isn't any sort of gratitude headed back his way for kind of telling the truth the whole time and just trying to be a good Samaritan. Kale expounded "good behavior" at the expense of a police officer's death? Not saying it's Kale's fault per se... just saying that things would have shaped out better if he was just knocked out, for instance.
I'm surprised Turner didn't use Officer Gutierrez' gun. I mean, he'd just killed Gutierrez, he pretty much knew his secret was blown and he had no other way out. He could've shot Kale and his mother, and he would've been armed and dangerous. The gun was loaded, and there was spare ammo for it.
Maybe because gun shots are loud? or maybe it would have been harder to place the blame on kale for Gutierrez' death, claiming he killed him, took his gun, shot his mother and then himself. But then would would he have done about the neighbor girl?
I guess his whole plan just went to *beep* after she got there xD
I would have like to see him alive just so Kale could go 'I told you so' to the officer xP
I am a big fan of this movie despite it having a few flaws, but killing the Officer made *no* sense in my opinion and kind of puts a damper on the ending. For a movie involving a brutal serial killer, it has quite a big heart and has very likeable characters. Unnecessarily killing off someone who had done nothing wrong didn't match up with the overall tone of the movie, in my opinion. I just watched it again and I noticed that, the first time Kale "broke into" the neighbour's house, Officer Gutierrez goes up to the other officer and says something like, "Something doesn't add up here, let's check it out", so he was already having suspicions and was basically on the "good side" the whole time.

That's correct. But did you notice what he did before he got killed? He took the call from dispatch and decided to NOT go over there immediately and continued to eat his burger ("Yeah, I'll take care of it. Yeah, when I take care of it"). So I feel like that they wrote that part to make him an ass so it would be easier for us to accept his death.
