I HAVE the DVD! According to VideoETA, it's estimated for October.
A naked Ashley Tisdale is what heaven looks like.
Yeah, as a general rule, Christmas movies don't get released on DVD until the following October at the earlies since that's when they'll sell the best.
Let me be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas! Ho, ho, ho!
I remember seeing an advanced screening for Fred Claus last November or something and I was laying in bed just now and randomly thought of the movie and thought, wait a minute, its already April and its not out on DVD yet. Thats crazy that they wait so long!
shareChristmas movies just plain do not come out on DVD until October. Search any Christmas movie and you'll discover the DVD wasn't released until October or so of the following year.
Experience has taught the studios and the DVD stores that people just don't buy Christmas movies, no matter how popular, until the Christmas season is approaching. The only exception I can immediately think of is THE NATIVITY STORY because religious people will buy such a movie whenever its released.

I think they need to do some serious TV advertising of the DVD cuz its been so long that people forgot about it!!! i liked the movie too..

On the contrary, goodsteve13. Christmas movies sell very well, but not before the Christmas season. Movies like HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, THE POLAR EXPRESS, the SANTA CLAUSE series, ELF, etc. were all held back from release until October or November and all sold well. Last year's THIS CHRISTMAS and THE PERFECT HOLIDAY have also been held back from release until this November and I imagine THIS CHRISTMAS will sell well although the other might not. I'm quite sure FRED CLAUS will be a top seller. People will be buying it not just for themselves but also as gifts.

Not to mention any kid that talks about fight club obviously doesnt belong to it.
shareAnnouncements of release dates for last year's Christmas movies have just started coming out this week: THE PERFECT HOLIDAY on Nov. 4 and NOELLE on Nov. 11, so announcements for THIS CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS IN WONDERLAND, and FRED CLAUS should be coming out shortly.
Let me be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas! Ho, ho, ho!
hey what's up? i love christmas!!!
shareHey, hey, Studman, glad to see you're still around. Darn quiet this year with what looks like only one theatrical Christmas movie coming up...
I'm anxious to see if the FRED CLAUS DVD gets a better reception than the movie did....I still say it just wasn't that bad a movie. In fact, I think a second look will show it to be a fairly good one. We'll see.

Christmas DVDs just plain don't get released until Gall. The same thing is going to happen with FOUR CHRISTMASES...everyone's going to be asking when the DVD will come out and it won't be coming out until October or November of 2009. None of last year's Christmas movies--THIS CHRISTMAS, THE PERFECRT HOLIDAY, CHRISTMAS IN WONDERLAND, NOELLE, FRED CLAUS--are being released until November (December for CHRISTMAS IN WONDERLAND).
Let me be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas! Ho, ho, ho!
do you agree that they should hold back christmas movies until the following year or do you think they should be released in 3-4 months like other films? just curious.
shareIf it's a movie I especially like, of course I'd like it to be released as soon as possible, whether it's a Christmas movie or not. But you can't argue economics and it doesn't make sense for them to release a Christmas movie in, say, March when it will probably just have a spurt of business and then occupy space needed for DVDs that are selling until the Christmas season when it will start selling again. So I resign myself to having to wait a year for the DVD. The studios and the video stores are out to make money and they make more by waiting until November or so to release them.

thanks for the responce. i agree.
shareWho the *beep* wants it?
shareI for one wants it and you'll find several others on this board who do. I think the sales when it's released will indicate a number of people want it.

I saw this movie in the theatre whilst wearing a Santa hat. If it is making money it is because of Vince Vaugn. Vince has sold his soul to the devil in regards to his career. He knows these movies are terrible because he is an intelligent and funny man. I am positive these movies are the reason his drinks as much as he does. They say that by the time you have made most of your money in Hollywood you have already given up so much of who you used to be that it's really not the question of "would you like to make money" and more the question of "would you like to become a total loser and make crap movies". The vast majority of people out there like crappy movies that could be churned out in a factory (this quite clearly being one of them). Now, I am not a movie snob as I like many crappy movies just for their crappiness. This one however steps far over the line. It is one of those movies where Hollywood whores decided to test the boundaries of how little money and effort they could put into a production (slap a few stars in it) and still turn a profit at the end of the day. Good Christmas movies that have been put out over the years include A Christmas Story, Home Alone (1 & 2), and a few good Muppet ones. There have been others but my point is that all of those movies were labors of love and not the product of greed and laziness. In closing I would like to add that I will read nothing you write in response to this. I have a great deal of respect for someone who would defend this movie. It is a POS no question but since so few people like this movie you are rather like the movie's white knight defending it. All of this being said I would just like to say that I love Christmas movies and see every one of them in the theatre including this one. Good day and an early happy holiday to you. -No hard feelings.
PS: Travis Bickle is not my name, any good movie fan would know what it is from... *beep* morons..haha
I won't address this to Travis since he'stated he won't read anyresponses. That tells me something about where he's coming from, but no big deal.
To the rest of you, I believe that this movie and probably FOUR CHRISTMASES are obvious labors of love on the part of Vince Vaughn and all concerned. I don't think it's any coincidence that these two movies of his have the same initials, FC. They have a common theme which apparantly is a very important one to Vaughn.
The theme is the family love that should exist but is threatened. In the case of FRED CLAUS, it's sibling rivalry that threatens the cohesiveness of the family. In the case of FOUR CHRISTMASES, it's divorce that threatens the cohesiveness of the family.
FRED CLAUS isn't perfect, but it does zero in on sibling rivalry. the Siblings Anonymouss scene is thrownin to assure that audiences will catch the idea. It's too early to know if FOUR CHRISTMASES will be as well constructed to get its message across. We'll know in a month's time.
For me, FRED CLAUS was a delightful feel good movie. Obviously it wasn't for everyone who saw it. Maybe I'm reading something that wasn't there into the movie or maybe the bashers failed to catch something that was there.
Whichever, those who see positive points in this movie are rewarded by the enjoyment and good feeling they get from it.
Hopefully, Vaughn's upcoming movie will also have positive points that will convey the message Vaugnn apparantly wants to get across...the importance of family coheiveness over the elements that would destroy it.
Unlike Travis,I will read any and all replies to this. I like to know what others think.
