i liked it

Just finished watching and I gotta say, I don't know where all this negativity is coming from. Maybe I liked it because my expectations were so low based on critic reviews and word of mouth or maybe I liked it because I'm a sucker for holiday movies that like to tug the heart strings a little. I don't know. What I do know is I liked it even though it was far from a great movie.

On a side note, from a business standpoint, Vaughn and Giamati are genius' for doing this flick. Think about all the residual checks they'll be raking in for years to come. This movie is going to be a staple on television every holiday season right alongside The Grinch, Elf and the Santa Claus. Look at Chevy Chase: the only reason he's not underneath a bridge keeping warm around a dumpster fire is because every December he gets a big fat check for Christmas Vacation.

It will be interesting to see how the DVD sales go on this. I imagine they will be pretty decent. And I expect that the film will be more kindly looked upon this year.

Let me be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas! Ho, ho, ho!

Agreed. I liked it the first time I saw it and I just watched it a second time on DVD and I liked it even more. It's funny and warm.
The anonymous siblings scene was a laugh riot. There were other awkward family conversations that were amusing as well.
It's overall good entertainment regardless of some formula.

The credits are rolling by as I type. I have no idea what movie the haters were watching but "Fred Claus" is my new, modern-day Christmas favorite.
Not overly and predictably saccharine and cloying as "The Santa Clause", this movie had a great plot and pulled it all together. Loved the flying scenes.
Lots of funny bits without the ANY bathroom humor. Vaughns excellent as basically good guy with rough edges. Liked this movies version of elves.. played by mostly adults instead of dolled up kids. I can't say it enough..
this is a Christmas classic.

I think the hype and all the bashing before release along with unfavorable reviews set off the wave of negative reviews. The mood was different this year and people are having lower and less critical expectations and are genunely enjoying it. I noticed the same thing on the THIS CHRISTMAS board which was ugly last year with racist threads but this year is having much more thoughtful discussion.

Have yourselves a Merry Little Christmas
