Another Holiday Stinker

This movie would have been better off with edgier humor, a la BAD SANTA. It didn't make the most of Vaughn's sharp comic timing and offbeat humor. It could have been an adult holiday classic if done the right way.

This movie doesn't know what it wants to be -- too confusing for kids and not sharp enough for adults.

Think there might have been worse movies guy... Actually not too bad...

I showed it at my apartment complex's Friday night movies and the worst comment from a group of 12 adults was that it was okay. Three absolutely loved it, and the other eight considered it pretty good. Since I've seen it before, I causht a lot of little details I missed before and consider it a quite well crafted movie.

Let me be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas! Ho, ho, ho!

didn't think it was that bad because I came with low expectations.
overall, not breathtaking yet not the "worst movie ever". people who wrote comments on like are just idiots oblivious to the Uwe Boll movies.
you wanted it to be like Bad Santa? right because all pg movies can pull that off.

I am glad that this board now has a good number of intelligent topics of discussion going rather than nothing but the "this stinker sucks" or "I loved it" posts. Seems to me that this shows that there is value in the movie when it inspires intelligent conversation.

Have yourselves a Merry Little Christmas

This stinker sucks.

I agree. It's not a bad film as long as you know what you are getting yourself into when you start watching.

"classic adult holiday classic"

This just in from the redundancy department of redundancy, the movie wasn't that bad! I rented it on PPV and actually, to my surprise, enjoyed it. It's different. Nobody will equate it with Elf or It's a Wonderful Life anytime soon, but it isn't a bad movie either.

"This movie doesn't know what it wants to be", my thoughts exactly. my wife and i love vince vaughn, but we thought this movie was pretty bad. it seemed like they made four versions with different plotlines and then just kind of mashed them all together. it almost seemed like they could have taken clips of vince vaughn in his classic ad-libbing rants from other movies and spliced them into this movie. like the director said "hey vince, in this scene could you just do that thing you did in the football scene from 'wedding crashers'"? i thought the beginning was pretty cute, but from the repo scene on it was pretty bad. it almost reminded me of ella enchanted, it was that bad. i was surprised, too, considering the amazing cast that they assembled. oh well, i guess i'll just watch christmas vacation tonight.
